PENGARUH KONTRASEPSI PROGESTINE ONLY TERHADAP FUNGSI SEKSUAL DAN BERAT BADAN: SCOOPING REVIEW
Sari
Abstract: The use of progestin-only contraceptives is often associated with side effects such as decreased sexual function and weight gain, which may affect the quality of life of acceptors. This study is a scoping review aimed at reviewing and summarizing the literature on the impact of progestin-only contraceptives on sexual function and weight gain. Article searches were conducted through PubMed and ScienceDirect databases using the keywords “Depomedroxy progesterone acetate,” “progestin only,” “sexual function,” and “weight gain.” The review identified eight themes related to the effects of progestin-only contraceptives on sexual function and seven themes concerning their impact on weight gain. Overall, progestin-only contraceptives have side effects on sexual function, although the difference is not considerably significant compared to other hormonal contraceptives. However, regarding weight gain, a more pronounced increase was observed, mainly due to fluid retention and increased appetite resulting from hormonal changes.
