ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR SPASIAL SISWA SMA PADA MATERI SISTEM INFORMASI GEOGRAFI DITINJAU DARI PERBEDAAN GENDER
Abstract
Pemikiran spasial atau keruangan merupakan kunci utama dalam mempelajari ilmu geografi. Seseorang dapat memiliki pengetahuan terkait spasial tetapi belum tentu memiliki kemampuan berpikir spasial. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk memeriksa kemampuan berpikir spasial siswa SMA dalam pembelajaran geografi pada materi Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG) meninjau dari perbedaan gender. Jenis penelitian ini deskriptif kualitatif. Rumus Slovin menjadi langkah dalam pengambilan sampel penelitian. Didapatkan 155 responden siswa di SMA Negeri 4 Jember. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes 10 soal esai pada materi SIG berdasarkan 6 indikator berpikir spasial, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Analisis data mencakup reduksi, menyajikan data, dan menarik kesimpulan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata siswa berada pada peringkat berpikir spasial menengah, yaitu nilai rata-rata siswa laki-laki 55, sedangkan siswa perempuan 59. Artinya kemampuan berpikir spasial laki-laki dan perempuan setara. Penting untuk memperhatikan bahwa perbedaan ini bersifat umum dan tidak berlaku untuk setiap individu. Selain itu, perbedaan kemampuan ini dapat dipengaruhi oleh faktor sosial dan pengalaman belajar. Kurangnya berlatih berpikir spasial tingkat tinggi menyebabkan kemampuan berpikir spasial siswa menurun. Diperlukan upaya membangun kemampuan berpikir spasial siswa SMA dalam kegiatan observasi, analisis, dan penelitian lapangan sehingga siswa memiliki pengalaman secara pengetahuan dan kemampuan berpikir spasial.
