Serat Mahayana sebagai Sumber Identitas Kultural Generasi Z di Era Digital
Abstract
Abstract: In the digital era, generation Z faces challenges in preserving Javanese cultural heritage. This is a descriptive-qualitative research. This study aims to analyze the relevance of Serat Mahayana in the digital era and efforts to maintain the cultural identity of generation Z. Data taken from the results of a philological study of the Serat Mahayana. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques with a objective approach and John Turner and Henry Tajfel’s social identity theory. Literature studies were used to trace various sources relevant to the Serat Mahayana study. The analysis results were reduced to obtain generalizations of content based on the research objectives. A qualitative descriptive model was used to present the results of the analysis. The results of the study show that Buddhist teachings that are acculturated with Javanese society create a cultural identity. Serat Mahayana as a traditional Javanese literary work containing Buddhist teachings such as restraining lust/panca driya, waskitha, sesrawungan, sumanak, ngaji-aji and narima are very relevant to facing challenges in the digital era. Serat Mahayana can be adapted and disseminated through digital media such as social media, blogs, or video content as a bridge between cultural identity and modernity.
