Implementasi Pengabdian Masyarakat dalam Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter di Sekolah Dasar

Abstract


Character education has become one of the main priorities in the national education system in Indonesia. However, the implementation of character education in elementary schools still faces various challenges, such as a lack of understanding and involvement from different parties. This research aims to examine the implementation of community service in strengthening character education in elementary schools. The methods used include teacher training, student mentoring by mentors, the creation of a character-based school environment, and social activities. The results indicate that the teacher training program enhances their understanding and skills in teaching character education. Student mentoring helps them internalize moral values, while a supportive school environment and social activities contribute to stronger character development. Overall, this program has proven effective in reinforcing character education for students in elementary schools. This study employs qualitative methods with a case study approach to evaluate the effectiveness of community service programs in character education. The findings show that teacher training not only improves teaching skills but also strengthens their commitment to character education. Student mentoring by mentors has been shown to assist them in understanding and internalizing the moral values being taught. In summary, the community service program designed to strengthen character education in elementary schools shows positive results. By involving various stakeholders—teachers, students, and parents—character education can be implemented more effectively, resulting in a younger generation that is not only academically intelligent but also possesses good morals and is prepared to face future challenges.
