PERAN PERPUSTAKAAN AKADEMIK DALAM MEMBANGUN BUDAYA DISKUSI KRITIS MAHASISWA UNISMA: PERSPEKTIF TEORI RUANG PUBLIK HABERMAS

Abstract


ABSTRAK

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi peran Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) dalam membentuk budaya diskusi kritis di kalangan mahasiswa melalui pendekatan teori ruang publik Jürgen Habermas. Objek penelitian difokuskan pada dimensi ruang publik akademik yang mencakup akses terbuka, kebebasan berpendapat, dialog kritis dan rasional, kesetaraan partisipasi, kebebasan dari dominasi politik dan ekonomi, orientasi pada kepentingan umum, serta representasi ruang fisik dan simbolik. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap empat informan mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposif. Teknik analisis data dilakukan secara tematik dengan tahapan reduksi data, kategorisasi tematik, dan interpretasi berdasarkan indikator teori ruang publik Habermas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar indikator ruang publik telah terimplementasi, meskipun belum optimal. Simpulan dari penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya kolaborasi antara pustakawan, dosen, dan mahasiswa untuk menguatkan peran perpustakaan sebagai ruang publik akademik yang inklusif, kritis, dan berkelanjutan.
