Teachers' Efforts in Instilling Discipline Character Values in Elementary School Students

Abstract


The cultivation of discipline character in elementary school students is an important issue because various behaviors that show low discipline are still found, so effective efforts are needed to shape the character of students from an early age. This research aims to study, identify, and synthesize various efforts of teachers in instilling disciplinary character values in elementary school students. The research uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with data sources in the form of scientific articles obtained from Google Scholar, ERIC, ScienceDirect, and Garuda databases. The articles analyzed met the inclusion criteria, namely discussing teachers' efforts in instilling discipline character in elementary school students, published in national and international scientific journals, available in full text, and relevant to the research focus. The data was analyzed using content analysis techniques and synthesized descriptively. The results of the study show that the most widely applied strategies by teachers include habituation, example, integration of disciplinary values in learning, application of school discipline, and providing positive reinforcement. The successful implementation of the strategy is influenced by teacher consistency, a supportive school culture, and family involvement. The conclusion of the study shows that the cultivation of discipline character requires collaboration between teachers, schools, and parents so that the value of discipline can be internalized optimally. These findings can be implemented as a basis for the development of more effective, contextual, and sustainable character education programs in elementary schools.
