Model Pengumpulan Minyak Jelantah (Used Cooking Oil) untuk Bahan Baku Biofuel

Rhian Indradewa

Abstract

Abstract: Used cooking oil (UCO) is a household waste stream with potential as a biofuel feedstock but is often poorly managed. This community service activity aimed to map household UCO practices and formulate an integrated collection model. Education and socialization were combined with a survey of 250 households in Jabodetabek and descriptive analysis. Results show that 60% disposed of UCO, 22% reused it, and only 4% sold it, although 86% recognized the health risk of improper reuse. The proposed model connects households and micro-enterprises with collection points, aggregators, filtration, storage, quality testing, and delivery to a biofuel refinery. The findings indicate a knowledge-behavior gap and highlight the need for accessible collection points, transparent incentives, traceability, and stronger local institutions to support circular-economy implementation.
