The Use Of English Podcasts To Improve Listening Comprehension Among EFL Students

Abstract


Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mendorong pemanfaatan berbagai media pembelajaran inovatif, termasuk English podcasts, dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing (English as a Foreign Language / EFL). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan English podcasts dalam meningkatkan listening comprehension siswa EFL melalui metode Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Literatur diperoleh dari Google Scholar, DOAJ, dan Scopus dengan rentang publikasi tahun 2020–2026 yang relevan dengan topik penelitian. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa English podcasts memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan menyimak siswa melalui penyediaan paparan bahasa Inggris autentik, pengayaan kosakata, peningkatan pemahaman terhadap berbagai aksen penutur, serta kesempatan belajar yang fleksibel dan mandiri. Selain meningkatkan aspek kognitif, penggunaan podcasts juga berdampak positif terhadap motivasi belajar, keterlibatan siswa, dan kepercayaan diri dalam memahami bahasa lisan. Namun, beberapa penelitian mengidentifikasi tantangan berupa kecepatan berbicara penutur asli, tingkat kompleksitas materi, serta keterbatasan kemampuan awal siswa dalam memahami konten audio berbahasa Inggris. Meskipun terdapat kendala tersebut, sebagian besar temuan menunjukkan bahwa English podcasts merupakan media pembelajaran yang efektif dalam mendukung pengembangan listening comprehension siswa EFL. Oleh karena itu, podcasts berpotensi menjadi alternatif pembelajaran yang autentik, fleksibel, dan relevan dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di era digital.
