Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to systematically review the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Islamic financial services, especially in the context of digital innovation that supports the expansion of financial inclusion based on Islamic principles. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study traces, evaluates, and synthesizes the last 10 years of scientific publications accessed through reputable databases such as Scopus, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and Google Scholar. The results show that the implementation of AI in Islamic finance does not only serve as a technological tool, but has transformed into a structural medium in shaping a more adaptive, efficient, and equitable Islamic financial system. Innovations such as e-KYC, fatwa-based robo-advisory, smart contracts for sharia contracts, and non-halal transaction detection algorithms have improved service efficiency while expanding access to finance for vulnerable groups and underserved communities. However, this integration also faces normative and ethical challenges, such as the absence of universal sharia compliance standards in AI systems, limited digital literacy, and potential algorithmic bias. Therefore, the successful utilization of AI in Islamic finance requires an approach that is not only technology-based, but also based on maqashid sharia and social justice-oriented governance.
