Abstract

Beringin Road, Dompu Subdistrict, Dompu Regency, is one of the road sections that plays a key role in supporting community activities and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic. Various activities along the roadside—such as parked or stopped vehicles, pedestrian activity, vehicles entering and exiting the road, and slow-moving vehicles—have the potential to affect the performance of this road section. This study aims to evaluate the performance of the Beringin Road section based on the 2023 Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines (PKJI). Data collection was conducted through a field survey that included recording traffic volume, observing lateral obstructions, and measuring road geometric conditions. Observations were carried out during the morning, afternoon, and evening to obtain an overview of traffic conditions at the time of the study. The results of the observations showed that the highest traffic volume was recorded at 173 SMP/hour between 12:45 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. WITA. Meanwhile, the highest level of secondary obstructions occurred between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. WITA, with a value of 76.4 incident weights per hour. Based on calculations in accordance with PKJI 2023, the capacity of the Beringin Road section reached 2,318.40 SMP/hour, while the maximum degree of saturation stood at 0.075. These values indicate that the current traffic flow remains well below the available road capacity. The evaluation results also show that the Beringin Road section has a Level of Service (LOS) A. These conditions indicate that traffic flow remains smooth and unobstructed, allowing the road section to effectively accommodate vehicle traffic. Thus, based on the conditions observed during the study, the performance of Beringin Road remains good and has not yet shown any significant capacity issues.
