Analisis Model Pemilihan Moda Angkutan Umum DAMRI dan Travel Sekongkang Trans Jurusan Mataram–Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat

Abstract

Increased public mobility along the Mataram–West Sumbawa Regency route has heightened the need for effective public transportation, leading to competition between DAMRI buses and Sekongkang Trans travel services as the two primary land-and-sea transportation modes on that route. Public expectations regarding fares, travel time, and travel safety are constantly changing, while previous research on user preferences for inter-island routes involving ferry crossings remains limited. This study aims to analyze the mode-choice model and identify the factors influencing users’ decisions to choose either DAMRI Bus or Sekongkang Trans Travel. This quantitative study employs a deductive approach and a survey method. The sample was determined using the unknown population formula (Lemeshow), yielding a minimum of 100 respondents who use DAMRI Bus and Sekongkang Trans Travel, with a preference questionnaire supplemented by secondary data from literature reviews and relevant institutional documents. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, multiple linear regression, and a binary logit model with SPSS. The results show that of the 100 respondents, 59% chose Sekongkang Trans Travel and 41% chose DAMRI Bus. Respondent age, travel cost, and travel time had a significant effect on mode choice in both models, while safety was significant only in the binary logit model; other variables had no significant effect. The binary logit model showed good fit (Hosmer and Lemeshow Sig. 0.997), explaining 88.1% of the variation in mode choice (Nagelkerke R-squared), with a prediction accuracy of 93.0%. Travel cost had the highest odds ratio (Exp(B) = 15.413), indicating that fare is the most dominant factor influencing the tendency to choose the DAMRI bus.
