UPAYA PENINGKATAN KOMPETENSI BAHASA INGGRIS BAGI DOSEN MELALUI METODE PEMBELAJARAN INTEGRASI

Abstract


Abstrak: Program Studi Administrasi Bisnis Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi berencana untuk membuka kelas Internasional. Berbagai upaya dilakukan oleh dosen-dosen yang salah satunya adalah peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris khususnya dalam hal berbicara. Upaya tersebut berupa pelatihan bahasa Inggris yang dilaksanakan selama satu semester terhadap 7 orang dosen Program Studi Administrasi Bisnis. Adapun metode yang dilakukan berupa metode ceramah, tanya jawab, diskusi, dan latihan atau praktik. Penilaian dilakukan dengan menggunakan rublik penilaian bicara pada aspek kelancaran, pengucapan, ketepatan berbahasa, dan keakuratan berbahasa. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris para peserta yang sangat baik. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari skor hasil tes bahasa Inggris para peserta, yakni sebanyak 70% memperoleh skor yang tinggi yaitu B. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa para peserta telah mencapai kriteria kecakapan berbahasa. Dengan skor yang diperoleh tersebut diharapkan para peserta dapat mewujudkan rencananya untuk membuka kelas internasional.

Abstract: The Academic program of Business Administration, Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi plans to open an international class. Several efforts are made by the lecturers, one of which is improving English skills, particularly in speaking. The effort is in the form of English-speaking training which was carried out in one semester to 7 lecturers of The Academic program of Business Administration. The methods applied were in the form of lectures, question and answer, discussion, and practice. Evaluation applied assessment rubric of fluency, pronunciation, language appropriacy, and language accuracy. The results of the training showed that the English-speaking skills of the participants were excellent, about 70% of the participants obtained high scores (B). It showed that participants had achieved language skill criterion. The obtained score is expected that the participants could realize their plan to open an international class.
