MEMBUDAYAKAN BEROLAHRAGA PADA ANAK ASLI PAPUA

Abstract


ABSTRAK

Meskipun infrastruktur olahraga telah banyak berdiri di Papua, namun minat berolahraga dan kebugaran masyarakat masih rendah. Untuk mejadikan olahraga sebagai bagian dari gaya hidup maka membiasakan olahraga perlu ditanamkan sejak dini. Oleh sebab itu, kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menjadikan olahraga sebagai kebiasaan pada anak-anak asli Papua. Metode pengabdian  yang dilakukan meliputi tiga tahap, yaitu tahap awal, inti pelaksanaan kegiatan, dan penutup.  Kegiatan PKM dilakukan setiap hari sabtu dengan target peserta adalah anak-anak yang berada di Kampung Yahim, Distrik Sentani, Kabupaten Jayapura, Papua. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa anak-anak yang mengikuti kegiatan olahraga bersama merasa gembira. Melalui kegiatan olahraga yang dilakukan telah terjadi peningkatan jumlah anak-anak yang berminat melakukan olahraga. Namun begitu, sejak munculnya varian omicron, yaitu yang menyebabkan terjadinya peningktaan kasus COVID-19 di Jayapura maka hal ini membuat kegiatan yang dilakukan tidak dapat dijalankan secara rutin.

ABSTRACT

Although many sports infrastructures have been established in Papua, interest in sports and level of fitness are still low. To make exercise a part of a lifestyle, getting used to sports needs to be instilled from an early age. Therefore, this service activity is carried out with the aim of making sports a habit for indigenous Papuan children. The service activity method carried out includes three stages, namely the initial, core implementation of activities, and closing stages. PKM activities are carried out every Saturday with the target participants being children in Yahim Village, Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Papua. The results of the service showed that children who participated in sports activities together felt happy. Through the activities carried out, there has been an increase in the number of children who are interested in doing sports. However, the emergence of the omicron variant, which causes an increase in COVID-19 cases in Jayapura, has made the activities carried out cannot be carried out routinely.
