Pengaruh Insdustri Tembakau Terhadap Kondisi Sosial Ekonomi Masyarakat Desa Semoyang

Abstract


The tobacco industry is one of the economic sectors that plays an important role in rural communities. However, previous studies on its impact on socio-economic conditions have produced diverse findings and have not yet been comprehensively integrated. This study aims to analyze and synthesize previous research findings regarding the influence of the tobacco industry on the socio-economic conditions of rural communities. The study employed a qualitative approach using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method. Data sources were obtained from scientific journal articles indexed in Google Scholar, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink. The selected literature was limited to publications from 2016–2026 that were relevant to the research focus, available in full-text format, and published in reputable scientific sources. The findings indicate that the tobacco industry generates positive impacts, including increased household income, job creation, and the development of local economic activities. However, it also produces negative impacts, such as economic dependence on tobacco commodities, vulnerability to price and market fluctuations, and the potential for socio-economic inequality. Furthermore, the study found that variations in the impacts of the tobacco industry are influenced by geographical characteristics, the socio-economic conditions of communities, and policies implemented in different regions. This study concludes that the tobacco industry has a complex influence on the socio-economic life of rural communities. The findings are expected to serve as a basis for formulating sustainable rural development policies through strengthening local economies, diversifying livelihoods, and enhancing community economic resilience.
