Pelatihan budidaya ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) memanfaatkan pakan mandiri

Abstrak

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Desa Purnakarya, Kecamatan Tanralili, Kabupaten Maros, dengan tujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan pembudidaya ikan nila dalam menerapkan teknik budidaya berkelanjutan melalui pemanfaatan pakan mandiri. Mitra sasaran adalah kelompok pembudidaya yang selama ini bergantung pada pakan komersial dengan biaya tinggi, memiliki akses terbatas terhadap teknologi budidaya efisien, dan belum memanfaatkan bahan baku lokal seperti ikan sapu-sapu atau ikan molly sebagai sumber protein alternatif. Jumlah peserta yang terlibat sebanyak 10 orang pembudidaya aktif. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi pelatihan partisipatif yang terdiri atas penyampaian materi teori budidaya dan formulasi pakan, praktik pembuatan pakan berbahan lokal, serta simulasi penggunaannya dalam budidaya ikan nila. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap efisiensi biaya pakan (meningkat sebesar 65% berdasarkan hasil pre-post test), serta keterampilan dalam memproduksi dan mengaplikasikan pakan mandiri. Sebanyak 85% peserta mampu membuat pakan secara mandiri dan 70% menyatakan akan menerapkannya dalam kegiatan budidaya. Mitra juga melaporkan adanya penurunan biaya operasional sebesar 20–30% dan peningkatan pertumbuhan ikan yang lebih stabil. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif berupa penguatan kemandirian ekonomi pembudidaya, pengurangan ketergantungan pada pakan pabrikan, dan peningkatan kesadaran akan praktik budidaya yang ramah lingkungan.

Abstract

This Community Service activity was conducted in Purnakarya Village, Tanralili Subdistrict, Maros Regency, with the aim of improving the knowledge and skills of Nile tilapia farmers in implementing sustainable aquaculture techniques through the utilization of self-made feed. The target partners were fish farmer groups who have been relying on high-cost commercial feed, have limited access to efficient aquaculture technologies, and have not yet utilized local raw materials such as Suckermouth catfish (Pterygoplichthys pardalis) or molly fish (Poecilia latipinna) an alternative protein source. A total of 10 active fish farmers participated in the activity. The implementation methods included participatory training, consisting of theoretical sessions on aquaculture and feed formulation, hands-on practice in producing feed using local ingredients, and simulation of its application in Nile tilapia farming. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’ understanding of feed cost efficiency (improved by 65% based on pre- and post-tests), as well as skills in producing and applying self-made feed. Approximately 85% of the participants were able to produce their own feed, and 70% expressed willingness to implement it in their farming practices. Partners also reported a 20–30% reduction in operational costs and more stable fish growth. This activity had a positive impact by strengthening the economic independence of the farmers, reducing dependence on commercial feed, and increasing awareness of environmentally friendly farming practices.
