Pemberdayaan ibu rumah tangga nelayan melalui edukasi gizi dan MP-ASI sehat untuk cegah stunting

Masalah stunting masih menjadi beban kesehatan masyarakat yang serius di Indonesia. Kampung Beru, sebuah desa pesisir di Kecamatan Takalar, Sulawesi Selatan, merupakan salah satu daerah yang menghadapi permasalahan stunting pada anak. Kondisi ini terus terjadi meskipun desa tersebut memiliki sumber daya laut yang melimpah. Salah satu penyebab utamanya adalah kurangnya pengetahuan dan keterampilan praktis para Ibu Rumah Tangga  Nelayan dalam menyiapkan makanan pendamping ASI (MP-ASI) yang bergizi bagi anak-anak mereka. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan para Ibu Rumah Tangga  nelayan melalui kegiatan edukasi gizi dan pelatihan keterampilan memasak. Kegiatan ini difokuskan pada peningkatan pengetahuan tentang pencegahan stunting serta kemampuan dalam mengolah MP-ASI bergizi dengan memanfaatkan hasil laut lokal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang nyata pada pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta. Lebih dari 85% Ibu Rumah Tangga  Nelayan mengalami peningkatan pemahaman tentang pencegahan stunting dan mampu menyiapkan MP-ASI sehat dengan bahan pangan laut setempat. Edukasi gizi yang dikombinasikan dengan pelatihan praktis terbukti efektif dalam memberdayakan keluarga nelayan di wilayah pesisir. Pendekatan ini dapat menjadi model berkelanjutan yang dapat diterapkan di daerah pesisir lainnya untuk mendukung ketahanan pangan rumah tangga dan mempercepat penurunan angka stunting.

Abstract

The issue of stunting presents a significant public health burden in Indonesian. Kampung Beru, a coastal village in Takalar DIbu Rumah Tangga ct, South Sulawesi is one of the areas facing serious problems with childhood stunting. This issue persists despite the village's abundant marine resources, primarily due to a critical gap in knowledge and practical skills among fishermen's wives concerning the preparation of nutritious complementary foods for young children. This community service program aimed to empower fishermen’s wives through a series of nutrition education sessions and hands-on training. The intervention focused on increasing knowledge about stunting prevention and improving practical skills in preparing healthy complementary feeding using locally available seafood. The program demonstrated measurable improvements in both knowledge and practice among participants. More than 85% of fishermen’s wives showed increased awareness of stunting prevention and were able to prepare healthy complementary foods using local seafood resources. Nutrition education combined with practical training in healthy complementary feeding effectively empowered fishermen’s wives in coastal communities. This approach offers a sustainable model that can be replicated in other coastal communities to support household food security and accelerate stunting reduction.
