Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris pada pendidikan anak usia dini di Indonesia masih menghadapi keterbatasan kompetensi guru dan media yang sesuai, meskipun masa golden age merupakan periode optimal bagi pemerolehan bahasa secara alami dan efektif. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan di RA Al-Ikhlas Kota Bengkulu bertujuan untuk mengenalkan kosakata dasar bahasa Inggris kepada anak usia dini melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang interaktif, kontekstual, dan berbasis bermain (play-based learning). Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan partisipatif dan edukatif yang mendorong keterlibatan aktif anak-anak pada setiap tahap proses pembelajaran.  Permainan edukatif yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi matching game dan guessing game yang dirancang untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan anak sekaligus mempermudah pemahaman materi secara menyenangkan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dalam dua kali pertemuan tatap muka pada bulan September 2025 dengan mengangkat tema yang dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari anak, yaitu peralatan rumah tangga yang menggunakan listrik. Berbagai media pembelajaran, seperti poster, kartu gambar, lagu anak, dan permainan edukatif, digunakan untuk menciptakan suasana belajar yang aktif dan menyenangkan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan sebanyak 85% anak mampu mengenali dan membedakan kosakata yang diperkenalkan melalui media visual, sementara dua orang guru menyatakan bahwa metode pembelajaran berbasis permainan dan media visual efektif dalam menciptakan suasana belajar yang lebih aktif dan menyenangkan.

Abstract

English language learning in early childhood education in Indonesia still faces limitations in teacher competence and the availability of appropriate learning media, even though the golden age is an optimal period for natural and effective language acquisition. Based on this condition, the community service program conducted at RA Al-Ikhlas in Bengkulu aimed to introduce basic English vocabulary to young learners through an interactive, contextual, and play-based learning approach. This program was implemented using participatory and educational approaches that encouraged children’s active involvement at every stage of the learning process. The educational games applied in this activity included matching games and guessing games, which were designed to enhance children’s engagement while facilitating their understanding of the material enjoyably. The activity was carried out in two face-to-face meetings in September 2025, focusing on themes closely related to children’s daily lives, namely household appliances that use electricity. Various learning media, such as posters, picture cards, children’s songs, and educational games, were utilized to create an active and enjoyable learning atmosphere. The results showed that 85% of the children were able to recognize and differentiate the vocabulary introduced through visual media. At the same time, two teachers stated that game-based learning methods and visual media were effective in creating a more engaging and enjoyable classroom environment.
