Abstract

Abstract

Futsal has emerged as one of the most widely practiced sports in contemporary society. The game demands a combination of technical skills and physical conditioning, making performance outcomes contingent upon numerous variables. Notably, the incidence of injury in futsal has been reported to be higher than that observed in association football, with the knee and ankle identified as the two anatomical regions most susceptible to injury. Consequently, early detection measures are essential for injury prevention purposes. This community service activity was designed to facilitate early detection of abnormalities in the knee and ankle joints, with the dual objectives of preventing sports-related injuries and providing appropriate clinical interventions. The program was conducted in three sequential phases: the preparatory phase, the implementation phase, and the phase of examination result processing. The activity was carried out at the Merce Building, UPN Veteran Jakarta, on December 2, 2025, employing a demonstration method with a total of 17 participants drawn from the futsal player population. The findings from the comprehensive physical examinations demonstrated that systematic special testing protocols are capable of detecting potential structural tissue abnormalities prior to their progression into more serious injuries. Among the examination results, the Thessaly Test yielded the highest positive rate, with 5 participants (29.45%) returning a positive result. These findings suggest that the implementation of knee and ankle screening programs can serve as a comprehensive injury prevention strategy through early identification of risk factors, the application of individually targeted interventions, and continuous monitoring of players' physical condition — all of which are anticipated to optimize the overall performance of futsal athletes.
