Abstract

Abstract

Low understanding among farmers regarding feed technology often hinders productivity during the early stages of shrimp farming. This Community Service (PkM) activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers in applying probiotic technology during the nursing phase of Vaname shrimp. The target partner was the "Tamposisie" Shrimp Farmers Group in Wiringtasi Village, Suppa District, Pinrang Regency, involving all group members as active participants. The implementation methods included socialization, counseling, demonstrations of mixing Super PS probiotics (dosage of 50 ml/kg of feed), and direct field practice of probiotic feed application in ponds. The results showed a significant increase in the partners' ability to independently apply probiotic technology. Qualitatively, participants understood the mechanisms of gut microbiota modulation and water quality improvement, perceiving the technology as easy and cost-effective to adopt. Quantitatively, the application of this technology is projected to increase the shrimp Survival Rate (SR) by approximately ±10% if applied consistently according to the taught dosage. In conclusion, this activity provided a positive impact on the technical capacity and confidence of farmers in managing Vaname shrimp cultivation that is environmentally friendly and oriented toward high productivity.
