Pendampingan pembelajaran matematika berbasis GeoGebra sebagai upaya inovasi kelas di SMP Satap Riangpuho

Pembelajaran matematika di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama masih menghadapi berbagai permasalahan, terutama rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa akibat dominasi metode pembelajaran konvensional dan minimnya pemanfaatan teknologi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dan siswa dalam menggunakan GeoGebra sebagai media pembelajaran serta mendorong inovasi pembelajaran matematika di SMP Satap Riangpuho. Mitra sasaran dalam kegiatan ini adalah guru matematika dan siswa dengan jumlah peserta sebanyak 27 orang yang terdiri dari 2 guru dan 25 siswa. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi pelatihan, pendampingan, praktik langsung, serta diskusi reflektif yang dilaksanakan melalui tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta dalam menggunakan GeoGebra, yang ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan rata-rata nilai dari 56 pada pre-test menjadi 82 pada post-test. Selain itu, sebanyak 88% peserta menyatakan kegiatan sangat bermanfaat dan 90% peserta merasa GeoGebra membantu dalam memahami konsep matematika secara visual. Secara kualitatif, kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan keaktifan dan motivasi belajar siswa serta mendorong guru untuk mengimplementasikan pembelajaran yang lebih interaktif dan berbasis teknologi. Dengan demikian, pendampingan pembelajaran matematika berbasis GeoGebra terbukti efektif sebagai upaya inovasi kelas yang dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah.

Abstract      

Mathematics learning at the junior high school level still faces various challenges, particularly students’ low conceptual understanding due to the dominance of conventional teaching methods and the limited use of technology. This community service activity aimed to enhance the competence of teachers and students in using GeoGebra as a learning medium, as well as to promote innovation in mathematics learning at SMP Satap Riangpuho. The target participants of this activity were mathematics teachers and students, with a total of 27 participants consisting of 2 teachers and 25 students. The implementation methods included training, mentoring, hands-on practice, and reflective discussions carried out through preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The results showed a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and skills in using GeoGebra, as indicated by an increase in the average score from 56 in the pre-test to 82 in the post-test. In addition, 88% of participants stated that the activity was highly beneficial, and 90% reported that GeoGebra helped them better understand mathematical concepts through visualization. Qualitatively, the activity also increased students’ engagement and learning motivation, while encouraging teachers to implement more interactive and technology-based learning. Therefore, GeoGebra-based mathematics learning assistance has proven to be an effective strategy for classroom innovation in improving the quality of mathematics learning in schools.
