Pemberdayaan tebu teluy sebagai contour farming di Desa Sirna Galih

Abstrak

Desa Sirna Galih di Lampung Utara memiliki topografi berbukit dengan kemiringan lahan 15-30 persen yang rentan terhadap erosi dan longsor akibat curah hujan tinggi mencapai 2000-3000 milimeter per tahun. Praktik pertanian konvensional tanpa pengelolaan kontur memperburuk degradasi lahan dan mengancam ketahanan pangan masyarakat yang bergantung pada tanaman musiman. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan mengurangi risiko erosi, meningkatkan keterampilan petani, mendukung diversifikasi pangan, serta memperkuat kolaborasi antara Universitas Lampung dan masyarakat setempat. Metode yang diterapkan meliputi penyuluhan teknik pertanian kontur, pelatihan budidaya tebu teluy, dan penanaman bibit secara partisipatif di lahan miring tepi sungai. Pelaksanaan dilakukan dari Juli hingga September 2025 dengan melibatkan 33 warga desa. Hasil menunjukkan 90 persen bibit tebu teluy berhasil tumbuh setelah aplikasi fungisida dan zat pengatur tumbuh, diikuti penanaman tambahan 100 bibit. Program ini mendukung stabilitas tanah melalui akar kuat tebu teluy dan berpotensi menjadi model pertanian berkelanjutan yang direplikasi di wilayah serupa. Kesimpulan menegaskan bahwa inisiatif ini efektif dalam konservasi lahan dan pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal.

Abstract

Sirna Galih Village in North Lampung features hilly topography with slopes of 15-30 percent, which are vulnerable to erosion and landslides due to high annual rainfall of 2000-3000 millimeters. Conventional farming practices without contour management exacerbate land degradation and threaten the food security of communities reliant on seasonal crops. This community service program aims to reduce erosion risks, enhance farmer skills, support food diversification, and strengthen collaboration between the University of Lampung and residents. Methods applied include extension on contour farming techniques, training in tebu teluy cultivation, and participatory seedling planting on sloped riverside land. Implementation occurred from July to September 2025, involving 33 villagers. Results indicate 90 percent of tebu teluy seedlings successfully grew following fungicide and growth regulator applications, followed by an additional 100 seedlings. The program supports soil stability through strong tebu teluy roots and has potential as a replicable, sustainable farming model in similar areas. The conclusion affirms the initiative's effectiveness in land conservation and local economic empowerment.
