Optimalisasi pengelolaan sampah melalui penggunaan biopori di sekolah Thailand

Laporan World Bank mencatat bahwa sampah di laut sudah memasuki krisis karena sampah plastik di lautan dunia sudah mencapai 150 juta ton, bahkan laporan tersebut mencatat bahwa di tahun 2050, sampah plastik akan lebih banyak atau lebih berat di lautan daripada ikan.. Salah satu negara yang berkontribusi besar terhadap permasalah ini yakni Thailand. Negara tersebut sudah melakukan beberapa intervensi untuk mengaleviasi masalah ini. Institusi pendidikan juga memiliki kewajiban moral untuk mengabil peran dalam mengantisipasi konsekuensi yang tidak diharapkan dari krisis lingkungan ini. Sekolah dapat meningkatkan kesadaran terhadap dan mengarahkan perilaku yang bertanggung jawab terhadap lingkungan. Oleh karena itu, pengabdian ini berfokus pada peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan untuk sekolah di Thailand. Metode pengabdian dilakukan dengan cara survei, diskusi dan demostrasi penggunaan biopori untuk mengelola sampah rumah tangga. Workshop untuk mendiskusikan kesiapan dan kebutuhan mitra terlaksana pada tanggal 13 Februari 2026 dengan melalui pertemuan daring dengan total peserta 6 orang. Pelatihan dan pendampingan di sekolah Thailand terlaksana pada tanggal 19-20 Mei 2026. Pelatihan ini melibatkan 13 orang peserta yang terdiri atas kepala sekolah, guru dan perwakilan yayasan sekolah. Beberapa peserta menyampaikan bahwa pengetahuan dan keterampilan mereka meningkat. Mereka juga berniat untuk mengaplikasikan penggunaan biopori untuk mengelola sampah rumah tangga.

Abstract
The World Bank report notes that marine waste has entered a crisis because plastic waste in the world's oceans has reached 150 million tons. The report even noted that by 2050, plastic waste will be more abundant or heavier in the ocean than fish. One of the countries that contributes significantly to this problem is Thailand. The country has implemented several interventions to align this problem. Educational institutions also have a moral obligation to take a role in anticipating the unintended consequences of this environmental crisis. Schools can raise awareness of and direct environmentally responsible behavior. Therefore, this community service focuses on improving knowledge and skills for schools in Thailand. The community service method is carried out through surveys, discussions, and demonstrations of the use of biopores to manage household waste. A workshop to discuss the readiness and needs of partners was held on February 13, 2026, through an online meeting with a total of 6 participants. Training and mentoring in Thai schools was held on May 19-20, 2026. This training involved 13 participants consisting of school principals, teachers, and representatives of school foundations. Several participants said that their knowledge and skills had increased. They also intend to apply the use of biopores to manage household waste.
