Pelatihan ergonomi kognitif sebagai upaya pencegahan beban mental berlebih pada siswa SMK Negeri 6 Bulukumba

Perkembangan teknologi, tuntutan akademik, pembelajaran praktik, dan penggunaan perangkat digital membuat siswa SMK berhadapan dengan aktivitas belajar semakin kompleks. Kondisi ini dapat meningkatkan beban mental, terutama ketika siswa harus menjaga konsentrasi dalam ruang belajar yang panas, jadwal padat, instruksi berlapis, serta tekanan penyelesaian tugas. Permasalahan tersebut menjadi urgen pada siswa SMK Negeri 6 Bulukumba karena lingkungan sekolah berada di kawasan pesisir dengan suhu udara relatif panas dan sirkulasi ruang belum sepenuhnya optimal. Siswa sering mengalami lelah, mengantuk, sulit fokus, dan mudah terdistraksi, sementara pemahaman mereka tentang ergonomi masih terbatas pada aspek keselamatan fisik dan penggunaan alat pelindung diri. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai ergonomi kognitif sebagai upaya pencegahan beban mental berlebih dalam proses pembelajaran teori dan praktik. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan edukatif-partisipatif melalui observasi kebutuhan mitra, penyusunan materi, pemberian pre-test, penyampaian materi, diskusi interaktif, simulasi strategi pengelolaan fokus, serta post-test dan evaluasi. Kebaharuan kegiatan terletak pada pengaitan ergonomi kognitif dengan konteks belajar siswa SMK di wilayah pesisir, meliputi suhu lingkungan, posisi duduk, pencahayaan, penggunaan gawai, manajemen waktu, tekanan tugas, dan teknik relaksasi sederhana. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta dari rata-rata 51% pada pre-test menjadi 94% pada post-test, dengan peningkatan sebesar 43%. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ergonomi kognitif efektif membantu siswa mengenali faktor penyebab kelelahan mental dan menerapkan kebiasaan belajar lebih sehat, fokus, nyaman, dan aman secara mental. Program ini juga memberi arah praktis bagi sekolah dalam membangun budaya belajar dengan memperhatikan kesiapan kognitif, bukan hanya pencapaian akademik dan keselamatan fisik.

Abstract
Technological development, academic demands, practical learning, and the use of digital devices mean that SMK students face increasingly complex learning activities. This can increase mental strain, especially when students have to maintain concentration in hot learning environments, with busy schedules, layered instructions, and pressure to complete tasks. This issue is particularly urgent for students at SMK Negeri 6 Bulukumba, as the school is located in a coastal area with relatively high temperatures and poor air circulation. Students often experience fatigue, drowsiness, difficulty focusing, and distraction, while their understanding of ergonomics is limited to physical safety and the use of personal protective equipment. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase students' understanding of cognitive ergonomics a prevent excessive mental strain in both theoretical and practical learning. The implementation method uses an educational-participatory approach by observing partners' needs, preparing materials, administering a pre-test, delivering the materials, holding interactive discussions, simulating focus management strategies, and administering a post-test and evaluation. The novelty of the activity lies in linking cognitive ergonomics with the learning context of SMK students in coastal areas, including environmental temperature, seating position, lighting, mobile device use, time management, task pressure, and simple relaxation techniques. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding from an average of 51% on the pre-test to 94% on the post-test, a 43% increase. These findings demonstrate that cognitive ergonomics training effectively helps students to recognise the causes of mental fatigue and to develop healthier learning habits that are more focused, comfortable and mentally safe. The programme also provides practical guidance for schools in developing a learning culture that considers cognitive readiness, not just academic achievement and physical safety.
