Peningkatan kompetensi guru dan terapis dalam penanganan kejang pada anak berkebutuhan khusus

Abstrak

Anak berkebutuhan khusus (ABK) memiliki risiko mengalami serangan kejang sehingga guru dan terapis perlu memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan pertolongan pertama yang tepat. Identifikasi awal terhadap 72 peserta menunjukkan bahwa 43 orang (59,7%) belum pernah mengikuti pelatihan khusus penanganan kejang pada ABK dan 38 orang (52,8%) belum mengetahui secara lengkap langkah pertolongan pertama saat terjadi kejang. Kondisi ini menunjukkan adanya keterbatasan pengetahuan yang mendasari perlunya pelatihan. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan, simulasi, pendampingan, dan penyusunan standar operasional prosedur (SOP) penanganan kejang. Evaluasi deskriptif menunjukkan 65 peserta (90,3%) mampu menyebutkan langkah utama pertolongan pertama, 63 peserta (87,5%) mampu melakukan simulasi posisi aman, dan 67 peserta (93,1%) mampu mengidentifikasi tindakan yang tidak boleh dilakukan saat kejang. Seluruh peserta (100%) menyatakan SOP penanganan kejang diperlukan di lingkungan layanan. Kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan penanganan kejang diperlukan untuk mendukung kesiapsiagaan guru dan terapis dalam memberikan pertolongan pertama yang aman dan tepat pada ABK.

Abstract

Children with special needs are at increased risk of seizures, requiring teachers and therapists to have adequate knowledge and skills in providing appropriate first aid. Initial identification among 72 participants showed that 43 participants (59.7%) had never attended specific seizure management training for children with special needs, while 38 participants (52.8%) did not fully understand appropriate first-aid measures during seizures. These findings indicate limited knowledge and support the need for structured training. The activity was conducted through education, training, simulation, mentoring, and development of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for seizure management. Descriptive evaluation showed that 65 participants (90.3%) were able to identify the main first-aid steps, 63 participants (87.5%) correctly demonstrated the recovery position, and 67 participants (93.1%) identified inappropriate actions during seizures. All participants (100%) stated that a seizure management SOP was needed in the service setting. These findings indicate that seizure management training is necessary to support teachers' and therapists' preparedness in providing safe and appropriate first aid to children with special needs.
