Edukasi terapi farmakologi diabetes melitus untuk memperkuat pengetahuan masyarakat RW 08 Kelurahan Klender Jakarta Timur
Abstract

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus requires appropriate and safe pharmacological therapy; however, differences in administration schedules, the risk of hypoglycemia, and insulin storage practices may still lead to medication errors in the community. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the knowledge of residents of RW 08, Klender Urban Village, East Jakarta, regarding diabetes mellitus and the use of antidiabetic medicines. The activity involved the RW 08 committee and the PKK women's group as partners, with 15 participants aged 35–60 years, and was conducted on 10 June 2026 through an interactive lecture, visual media, therapy examples, and discussion on metformin, glimepiride, acarbose, insulin, hypoglycemia, adherence, and consultation before dose changes. Evaluation used a one-group pre-test–post-test design with a 10-item multiple-choice questionnaire, analyzed descriptively and supplemented with a two-sided exact Wilcoxon test. The mean score increased from 97.33 (pre-test) to 100.00 (post-test); three participants (20.0%) improved, 12 (80.0%) maintained the maximum score, and none declined. Correct answers increased from 146 to 150 out of 150 possible responses, with the Wilcoxon test yielding p = 0.250. These results indicate that the education corrected previously inaccurate responses and strengthened immediate knowledge, although the change was not statistically significant because baseline scores were already very high (ceiling effect). Follow-up evaluation is needed to assess knowledge retention, medication-use behavior, and adherence.
