Abstract

Abstract

Screening of anxiety and depression is an essential component of strengthening mental health services at the primary healthcare level. UPTD Puskesmas Jatibarang faces challenges in implementing mental health screening because the process is still largely conducted manually, resulting in longer processing times, an increased risk of scoring errors, and limitations in documenting screening results. This community service program aimed to optimize the early detection of anxiety and depression through the implementation of SIKANDI (Anxiety and Depression Screening Information System) at UPTD Puskesmas Jatibarang. The program employed a participatory approach supported by digital health technology and was carried out in three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved identifying needs through interviews, discussions, and focus group discussions with the partner. The implementation stage included application development, testing, orientation, demonstration, and assistance in using the application. SIKANDI was developed to facilitate screening according to target population groups using the Mini MINDHEAR Youth Scale Version 1 (MMYS V.1), Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4), and Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS). The results showed that SIKANDI facilitated digital completion of screening instruments, automatic score calculation and interpretation, provision of follow-up recommendations, and digital storage of screening histories. The orientation session conducted on August 14, 2026 also generated feedback from the partner that served as a basis for further refinement of the application. The implementation of SIKANDI supported the transformation of mental health screening from a manual process into a more structured digital system tailored to the service needs of UPTD Puskesmas Jatibarang. Assistance and evaluation were conducted to support the implementation of the application in primary mental health services.
