Training and Simulation of Pokdarwis Tjakarawala Outbound Guides in Cokro Village as an Effort to Optimize Eco-Culture Tourism

Abstract


Cokro Village, located in Tulung District, Klaten Regency, holds significant potential in natural resources and local culture to be developed as an eco-culture tourism destination. However, limited community capacity particularly among Pokdarwis (Kelompok Sadar Wisata) members remains a challenge in optimizing this potential. This research describes the implementation of a training and simulation program for outbound guiding aimed at empowering Pokdarwis Tjakarawala to manage nature and culture-based tourism sustainably. The activity consisted of two main stages: a training session for Pokdarwis members and a simulation involving elementary and junior high school students from the surrounding area. The method employed a participatory approach, including discussion, field practice, and evaluation. The results indicate that the training improved participants’ understanding, technical skills, and confidence in guiding educational outbound activities. Additionally, the program fostered collaboration and environmental awareness among youth through experiential learning. This initiative is expected to strengthen the role of the local community in promoting sustainable village tourism rooted in local cultural values.
