Empowering Subject Teachers Through Learning Based On National Values And Religious Moderation At Awaalah State High School

Abstract


Indonesia's cultural, ethnic, linguistic, and religious diversity is both a valuable asset and a challenge in maintaining national unity. The phenomena of intolerance, hate speech, and radicalism demonstrate that national values and the spirit of religious moderation have not been fully internalized in education. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to empower subject teachers at Awaalah State Senior High School to integrate national values and religious moderation into their learning. The community service partners are 27 Awaalah State Senior High School teachers. The implementation method includes three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. The activity took the form of a two-day training session with two speakers. The results of the community service demonstrated an increase in teachers' understanding of strengthening national character and moderate attitudes in learning, as well as practical skills in writing scientific papers. The evaluation showed high satisfaction with the implementation, materials, presenters, and benefits of the program. These findings indicate that the PKM program is effective in increasing teacher capacity while strengthening a peaceful, tolerant, and nationalistic school culture. Therefore, this activity is important as a model for teacher empowerment in facing the challenges of multicultural education in Indonesia.
