PENGUATAN KETAHANAN MENTAL PENGURUS RANTING AISYIYAH DALAM MENGHADAPI TANTANGAN PENGASUHAN REMAJA GENERASI Z
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Parenting plays an important role in supporting adolescent development. However, the characteristics of Generation Z, who have grown up in a digital environment, present challenges for mothers in providing effective parenting. In addition to parenting demands, mothers often undertake various other roles, such as managing household responsibilities, working, and fulfilling social obligations. The accumulation of these demands may contribute to psychological stress, which can affect mothers’ mental health and the quality of parenting. Therefore, this community engagement program aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge of adaptive parenting for Generation Z adolescents and strengthen their capacity to build social support. The program involved 30 mothers who had adolescent children. The activities employed parenting psychoeducation and peer support group training. Evaluation was conducted using a parenting knowledge questionnaire administered through pretest and posttest measurements. The results showed an increase of 7.23 points in participants’ knowledge scores. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test indicated a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (W = 0, p < 0.001), with an effect size of r = 0.87, indicating a large effect. All participants were classified in the low-knowledge category before the program, whereas after the program, 80% of participants were classified in the high-knowledge category and 20% in the moderate-knowledge category. These findings indicate that parenting psychoeducation and peer support group training can support improvements in mothers’ knowledge regarding parenting Generation Z adolescents. The program has implications for strengthening mothers’ capacity to implement adaptive parenting practices and utilize peer support as a source of encouragement in dealing with parenting demands.
