Abstract

The increasing elderly population demands the active role of health cadres in conducting effective health screenings to enable early detection of health disorders. The objective of this activity was to enhance the capacity of health cadres in early detection through Skilas screening training, with the achievement indicator being an improvement in knowledge among cadres at the Posyandu in Kekeri Timur Village, under the jurisdiction of Penimbung Health Center, West Lombok, on February 8–9, 2025. The activity involved 20 health cadres from Kekeri and Mambalan Villages through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) approach, training sessions, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. The training materials covered seven screening dimensions: cognitive decline, mobility limitations, malnutrition, visual impairment, hearing loss, and symptoms of depression. The results demonstrated that the health cadres were capable of conducting Skilas screenings and showed a significant increase in knowledge scores, from an average of 4.56 to 9.77, as well as skills improvement from 3.25 to 9.22. This training proved effective in enhancing the competencies of health cadres to support independent early detection of health problems among the elderly.
