Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance self-concept and social relationships among individuals with psychosocial disabilities (PWPD) through a community-based psychoeducation approach. The program was conducted in the working area of Playen I Community Health Center, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, involving 17 participants consisting of PWPD, family caregivers, and mental health cadres. The activities were delivered through interactive training sessions, including breathing reflection, mirror exercises, and the social support tree activity. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using a one-group pre-test–post-test design. The Paired Sample t-Test results indicated a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (t(16) = –18.67, p < .01), with an average increase from 60.59 to 80.00. The findings demonstrated that psychoeducation effectively strengthened participants’ self-concept, increased their awareness of social support, and contributed to community-based mental health recovery. This program shows that psychoeducation can serve as an applicable and sustainable model of community engagement to promote mental health and social well-being.
