Abstract

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out to answer the problem of low public understanding of the Tanjung Karang Muhammadiyah Branch Executive (PCM) on the concept of productive waqf. So far, the practice of waqf in the community is still limited to the construction of mosques or worship facilities, while the potential of waqf for economic and agricultural empowerment has not been optimally utilized. The purpose of this activity is to increase the literacy of productive waqf based on sharia maqashid and to foster public awareness so that waqf can be directed to sustainable socio-economic benefits. This activity involved PCM Tanjung Karang partners with a total of 50 permanent recitation congregations consisting of community leaders, mosque takmir, and Muhammadiyah cadres. The implementation method uses a participatory approach through the recitation of tajihan as many as three meetings, interactive lectures, and group discussions (FGD). The results of the activity showed an increase in public understanding by 70% based on the results of interviews and field observations. Participants were able to re-explain the concept of productive waqf and show interest in distributing money waqf through mosque takmir. However, the limited time and the attendance of participants in the last session are obstacles that need to be evaluated. This activity succeeded in strengthening the understanding of productive waqf as an instrument of the welfare of the local community.
