Edukasi wellness outreach for wonderful kids sebagai upaya preventif gizi buruk pada anak sekolah dasar
Abstract
Kesehatan berperan krusial dalam menunjang proses tumbuh kembang anak, baik dari aspek fisik maupun mental. Penerapan Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS) pada anak usia sekolah dasar (SD) masih menjadi tantangan yang cukup besar, khususnya di Kota Serang. Kondisi ini juga berkontribusi terhadap masih tingginya angka masalah gizi di wilayah tersebut. Edukasi berbasis komunitas “Wellness Outreach for Wonderful Kids (WOW)” bertujuan untuk menerapkan perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat dalam rangka mencegah gizi buruk di kalangan siswa SDN Kampung Baru, Kota Serang. Kegiatan ini dikembangkan sebagai respons terhadap masalah kesehatan yang terus berlanjut, termasuk kesadaran PHBS yang rendah, kekurangan gizi, anemia, obesitas, dan kebersihan mulut yang buruk di kalangan anak usia SD. Kegiatan edukasi ini menggunakan metode ceramah interaktif dan demonstrasi disesuaikan dengan pemahaman sesuai usia seperti presentasi edukasi, demonstrasi (mencuci tangan dan menyikat gigi), permainan, dan kuis untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan aktif siswa. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November tahun 2024, dengan melibatkan 26 siswa dan tim edukasi mahasiswa multidisiplin dari kedokteran, keperawatan, dan gizi yang didampingi dengan fasilitator. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan dengan menggunakan indikator yang telah ditentukan seperti kehadiran dan partisipasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kehadiran siswa 98%, dengan partisipasi aktif (95% keterlibatan), dan keterlibatan tim edukasi penuh (100%). Siswa dapat mengikuti kegiatan dengan baik termasuk mempraktikan simulasi teknik mencuci tangan yang benar dan menyikat gigi. Edukasi ini diharapkan bahwa praktik PHBS dapat diimplementasi dan terintegrasi secara berkelanjutan ke dalam rutinitas sekolah sehari-hari sehingga dapat terjadi perubahan perilaku jangka panjang dan peningkatan kesehatan anak.

Abstract
Health plays a crucial role in supporting children's growth and development, both physically and mentally. Implementing Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) among elementary school-aged children remains a significant challenge, particularly in Serang City. This situation also contributes to the persistently high rate of malnutrition in the region. The community-based education program "Wellness Outreach for Wonderful Kids (WOW)" aims to implement clean and healthy living behaviors to prevent malnutrition among students at Kampung Baru Elementary School in Serang City. This program was developed in response to ongoing health problems, including low PHBS awareness, malnutrition, anemia, obesity, and poor oral hygiene among elementary school-aged children. This educational activity uses interactive lectures and demonstrations tailored to age-appropriate understandings such as educational presentations, demonstrations (washing hands and brushing teeth), games, and quizzes to increase student active engagement. This activity was carried out in November 2024, involving 26 students and a multidisciplinary student education team from medicine, nursing, and nutrition, accompanied by facilitators. Evaluation of the activity was conducted using predetermined indicators such as attendance, participation, and educational outcomes. Results showed 98% student attendance, 95% active participation, and 100% full involvement of the education team. Students participated effectively in the activity, including practicing simulations of proper handwashing and tooth-brushing techniques. This education program is expected to ensure that PHBS practices can be implemented and integrated sustainably into daily school routines, leading to long-term behavioral changes and improved children's health.
