Pemberdayaan kader kesehatan dalam penguatan ketenangan batin lansia melalui teknik slow deep breathing
Abstract

Abstract
This Community Partnership Program (PkM) aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of health cadres in assisting older adults to maintain inner peace through the Slow Deep Breathing technique in Bandungrejosari Village, Sukun Subdistrict, Malang City. The significant number of older adults in this area necessitates health services that focus not only on physical aspects but also on psychological well-being. However, activities at the Older Adults’ Posyandu have so far been dominated by monitoring physical health, while non-pharmacological interventions for emotional regulation and inner peace have not yet been routinely integrated. The main challenges faced by the partners include: the lack of specialized training on emotional regulation for the elderly, the failure to integrate the Slow Deep Breathing technique into the routine Senior Citizens’ Posyandu program, and the limited skills of volunteers in systematically guiding relaxation exercises. Therefore, the proposed solution is to empower health cadres through education on the concept of psychological well-being for the elderly, training in Slow Deep Breathing techniques, as well as demonstrations and role-plays on how to properly and safely guide breathing exercises. The activity involved 45 health cadres and was conducted in three phases from June 3–5, 2026. The methods used included lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and re-demonstrations. The results of the activity showed an increase in the health workers’ knowledge, as indicated by a rise in the percentage of participants in the “good” knowledge category from 88.9% to 93.3%, and a decrease in the “poor” knowledge category from 6.7% to 2.2%. Skill evaluations also showed that 88.9% of the workers had achieved the “competent” category in practicing and guiding the Slow Deep Breathing technique. This program successfully enhanced the knowledge and skills of health workers in supporting the psychological well-being of older adults.
