Abstract

Abstract
Anemia among adolescent girls remains a major public health concern due to its adverse effects on growth, academic performance, productivity, and reproductive health. Limited knowledge of balanced nutrition and the importance of consuming Iron Supplement Tablets (IST) contributes to the increased risk of anemia in this population. This community service program aimed to improve female students' knowledge of anemia prevention through nutrition education and enhanced understanding of Iron Supplement Tablet consumption. The program was conducted at Tahfidzul Qur'an Assa'adah Islamic Boarding School, Maros Regency, involving 28 female students. The intervention employed an interactive lecture supported by PowerPoint presentations and educational leaflets, and its effectiveness was evaluated using pretest and posttest assessments. The mean knowledge score regarding anemia prevention and Iron Supplement Tablet consumption increased from 78.57 to 96.79 (23.18%), with all participants achieving a posttest score of ≥90. These findings indicate that nutrition education effectively improved participants' knowledge and has the potential to serve as a sustainable health promotion strategy for anemia prevention in Islamic boarding schools.
