Pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis circular economy melalui pemanfaatan limbah kotoran ayam menjadi briket biomassa di Desa Bagorejo Kabupaten Jember
Abstract

Abstract
Chicken manure generated from layer poultry farming in Bagorejo Village, Jember Regency, has not been optimally utilized, potentially causing environmental pollution. This community service program aimed to empower poultry farmers through a circular economy approach by converting chicken manure into biomass briquettes as an alternative fuel. The program involved 20 participants from the “Mbago Telur Sejahtera” poultry farmer group and employed a participatory approach consisting of socialization, training and technology implementation, and evaluation. The briquette production process included raw material drying, carbonization, charcoal grinding, mixing with tapioca starch binder, molding, drying, and packaging. The results showed a participant attendance rate of 100%, while the evaluation indicated that 85% of participants understood the circular economy concept and the potential utilization of chicken manure as an alternative energy source. The training also successfully produced biomass briquettes through hands-on activities involving the farmer group using simple equipment. However, sustainable technology implementation remains constrained by the time and labor requirements of carbonization and briquette molding. Therefore, the development of more efficient production technologies is necessary to support independent production and the sustainable utilization of poultry waste.
