CAPACITY BUILDING-BASED LITERATION ON BIRDWATCHING FOR FORESTRY STUDENTS TO SUPPORT BIRD CONSERVATION IN CONSERVATION AREAS

Abstract


Abstrak: Ekspedisi merupakan salah satu kegiatan ilmiah yang berkontribusi terhadap konservasi burung di kawasan konservasi, salah satunya di taman nasional. Namun, pengetahuan dan ketrampilan birdwatching yang terbatas dapat menghambat kegiatan ekspedisi. Tujuan pelatihan ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan birdwatching berbasis letirasi. Metode yang digunakan antara lain pemaparan materi teknik identifikasi burung, bioekologi burung, metode pengumpulan data dan analisisnya serta simulasi lapangan yang disampaikan kepada peserta ekspedisi SHOREA yaitu 10 mahasiswa kehutanan perwakilan Himasylva. Penyampaian teori dilakukan di kelas, sedangkan simulasi dilakukan di lapangan. Teknik pengukuran perubahan pengetahuan dan pemahaman dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata akan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan peserta sebesar 60% dari semua indikator untuk pengetahuan spesies burung dan 46% dari semua indikator untuk pengetahuan metode pengumpulan data dan analisisnya.

 

Abstract: The expedition is a scientific activity that contributes to bird conservation in conservation areas, one of which is in a national park. However, limited birdwatching knowledge and skills can hinder expedition activities. This training aims to increase the knowledge and skills of birdwatching based on lethargy. The methods used included presentations on bird identification techniques, bird bioecology, data collection, analysis methods, and field simulations taught to the SHOREA expedition participants, namely ten forestry students representing Himasylva. Giving theory submissions is made in class, while simulations are conducted in the field. The process of measuring changes in knowledge and understanding is done through a pre-test and post-test.The training results showed an average increase in participants' knowledge and skills by 60% of all indicators for knowledge of bird species and 46% of all indicators for knowledge of data collection and analysis methods.
