PENINGKATAN PEMAHAMAN PESERTA DIDIK TINGKAT SMK TERHADAP ALJABAR MATEMATIKA BERBANTUAN SYMBOLAB

Abstract


Abstrak: Analisis situasi untuk Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat pada pelatihan penggunaan Symbolab di SMK Astrindo Kota Tegal mengungkapkan kebutuhan mendesak akan pendekatan pembelajaran yang inovatif dan berbasis teknologi. Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) di SMK Astrindo Kota Tegal bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman matematika aljabar melalui pelatihan penggunaan Symbolab, sebuah platform AI berbasis web. Analisis situasi menunjukkan kebutuhan mendesak akan pendekatan pembelajaran inovatif dan berbasis teknologi, serta adanya kesenjangan akses teknologi di kalangan siswa. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 39 siswa dan dilaksanakan dengan tahapan observasi awal, pemberian materi, serta sesi evaluasi. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan siswa. Tantangan utama yang dihadapi meliputi variasi tingkat pemahaman siswa, kesulitan dalam memahami konsep abstrak, dan ketidakmerataan akses teknologi. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan siswa dari 40% menjadi 80%. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika yang kompleks dan keterampilan teknologi siswa, serta berkontribusi pada peningkatan prestasi akademik di bidang matematika.

Abstract: The situation analysis for the Community Service on Symbolab training at Vocational School Astrindo Tegal revealed an urgent need for innovative and technology-based learning approaches. The Community Service at Vocational School Astrindo Tegal aims to improve understanding of algebraic mathematics through training in the use of Symbolab, a web-based AI platform. A situation analysis showed an urgent need for innovative and technology-based learning approaches, as well as a gap in access to technology among students. This activity involved 39 students and was carried out with the stages of initial observation, material provision, and evaluation sessions. Evaluation was conducted using pre-test and post-test to measure the improvement of students' understanding and skills. The main challenges faced include variations in students' level of understanding, difficulty in understanding abstract concepts, and inequality in access to technology. The results of the training showed a significant increase in student proficiency from 40% to 80%. The training successfully improved students' understanding of complex mathematical concepts and technological skills, and contributed to improved academic performance in mathematics.
