EDUKASI DAN SKRINING SEBAGAI UPAYA PENINGKATAN KESEHATAN MENTAL REMAJA DI PANTI ASUHAN
Abstract
Abstract: Adolescence is a period of rapid physical, psychological, and intellectual growth. In Indonesia, mental disorders in adolescents are an essential problem because they affect not only the health of the current generation but also their health as adults. Adolescents living in orphanages are at risk of experiencing mental health problems. The Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, in collaboration with the Muhammadiyah Babadan Ponorogo Orphanage Social Welfare Institution, conducted community service activities aimed at conducting early detection and increasing the knowledge of adolescents in orphanages about mental health. The method screened 38 orphanage adolescents using the Indonesian version of the Self Reporting Questionnaire 20 questionnaire. Knowledge evaluation activities were conducted by giving questionnaires about adolescent mental health before and after education. There was an increase in adolescent mental health knowledge of 45%, and the screening results showed that 46% were at risk of experiencing mental disorders. Serious handling of adolescent mental health in orphanages is needed by providing guidance and counseling to establish communication between adolescents and caregivers as substitute parents.
