EDUKASI PEMANFAATAN MINUMAN HERBAL KOMBINASI BUNGA TELANG (CLITORIA TERNATEA L.) DAN DAUN PANDAN (PANDANUS AMARYLLIFOLIUS) SEBAGAI OBAT ANTIDIABETES DI PROVINSI GORONTALO
Abstract
Abstrak: Diabetes Melitus (DM) ditandai dengan hiperglikemia dan gangguan metabolisme yang berkaitan dengan defisiensi insulin. Provinsi Gorontalo menempati peringkat ke-8 dalam prevalensi DM di Indonesia dengan 10.997 penderita. Pengabdian ini bertujuan mengaplikasikan hasil penelitian terkait pemanfaatan bunga telang (Clitoria ternatea L.) dan daun pandan (Pandanus amaryllifolius) sebagai antidiabetes, dengan pendekatan edukasi dan pelatihan kepada kader masyarakat di Kelurahan Pauwo. Program ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan softskill mitra, seperti kemampuan komunikasi, kerja tim, dan penyampaian materi kesehatan, serta hardskill, termasuk keterampilan praktis dalam meracik minuman herbal dan melakukan pengukuran gula darah secara mandiri. Edukasi dilakukan melalui ceramah, leaflet, dan booklet yang menyajikan informasi tentang pencegahan dan pengelolaan DM. Pelatihan berfokus pada pembuatan minuman herbal kombinasi bunga telang dan daun pandan, praktik Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat (PHBS), serta prosedur mandiri untuk tes gula darah.Mitra dalam kegiatan ini adalah kader Masyarakat di Kelurahan Pauwo sebanyak 20 orang. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang diisi oleh para kader sebelum dan setelah pelaksanaan program dengan hasil peningkatan pemahaman kader dari 58,80% menjadi 96,67%. Hasil kegiatan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan kader dalam mengelola diabetes secara mandiri tetapi juga mendorong adopsi pola hidup sehat yang lebih luas di masyarakat.
Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is characterized by hyperglycemia and metabolic disorders associated with insulin deficiency. Gorontalo Province ranks 8th in Indonesia for DM prevalence, with 10,997 cases. This community service program aims to apply research findings on the use of butterfly pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea L.) and pandan leaves (Pandanus amaryllifolius) as antidiabetic agents through educational and training initiatives targeted at community health workers in Pauwo Subdistrict. The program is designed to enhance both soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and the delivery of health education, and hard skills, including practical expertise in preparing herbal beverages and independently measuring blood sugar levels. Education is delivered through lectures, leaflets, and booklets providing information on DM prevention and management. Training sessions focus on the preparation of herbal beverages combining butterfly pea flowers and pandan leaves, the practice of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (CHLB), and independent blood sugar testing procedures. The program's participants consist of 20 community health workers in Pauwo Subdistrict. The program's evaluation was conducted using questionnaires completed by participants before and after the program, showing an increase in understanding from 58.80% to 96.67%. This initiative not only improves the knowledge and skills of community health workers in managing diabetes independently but also promotes the broader adoption of healthier lifestyles within the community.
