KELAS PIJAT BAYI OLEH IBU: UPAYA STIMULASI TUMBUH KEMBANG BAYI
Abstract
Abstract: Infancy, particularly within the 0–12 month age range, is a golden period of development that significantly determines the future quality of human resources. One recommended form of stimulation that can be performed directly by mothers is infant massage, which has been proven to provide both physiological and psychosocial benefits for infants and parents alike. However, limited access to practical education in primary health care facilities has led many mothers to feel unconfident in performing infant massage independently. This community service activity aimed to enhance mothers' knowledge and skills in infant massage through an educational approach and hands-on practice based on andragogy principles. The activity was conducted on June 21, 2025, at Banyuanyar Public Health Center, Surakarta City, involving 12 mothers with infants aged 0–12 months. The methods included interactive lectures, demonstrations of infant massage techniques, distribution of educational modules, and small group practice sessions with facilitator assistance. Evaluation was carried out through pre- and post-tests, as well as participatory observation. Results showed an increase in participants’ average knowledge scores from 55 to 77.5, with 11 out of 12 participants showing improved scores. Additionally, active engagement during practical sessions indicated the effectiveness of experiential approaches in boosting mothers’ confidence. In providing stimulation for growth and development through baby massage, a suggested follow-up for community service activities is to include topics related to complementary feeding (MPASI) practices and parenting patterns, so that efforts to optimize growth and development can be sustained, particularly during the critical period of the first 1,000 days of life.
