MEMBUKA CAKRAWALA DUNIA: SOSIALISASI BEASISWA LUAR NEGERI PADA PERGURUAN TINGGI DI KAMPUNG INGGRIS PARE
Abstract
Abstrak: Program sosialisasi beasiswa luar negeri memiliki peran strategis dalam memperluas wawasan global mahasiswa dan meningkatkan kesiapan mereka menghadapi pendidikan internasional namun informasi terkait beasiswa tidak selalu tersebar dengan baik terutama di perguruan tinggi swasta. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan pemahaman mahasiswa mengenai jenis-jenis beasiswa luar negeri, persyaratan akademik dan non-akademik, serta strategi persiapan studi internasional. Metode pelaksanaan adalah sosialisasi melalui pemaparan pengalaman studi luar negeri, diskusi, dan sesi tanya jawab. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di IAI Hasanuddin Pare, berlokasi didekat Kampung Inggris Pare, yang dikenal sebagai pusat pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di Indonesia dengan jumlah peserta kurang lebih 30 orang. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada pengetahuan peserta mengenai peluang beasiswa, motivasi melanjutkan studi ke luar negeri, serta kesadaran akan pentingnya perencanaan akademik sejak dini. Program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah awal dalam membangun budaya akademik berorientasi global dan mendorong peningkatan mobilitas mahasiswa Indonesia di tingkat internasional.
Abstract: Overseas scholarship socialization programs play a strategic role in broadening students’ global perspectives and enhancing their readiness for international education; however, information related to scholarships is not always well disseminated, particularly in private higher education institutions. This community service activity aimed to improve students’ understanding of various overseas scholarship schemes, academic and non-academic requirements, and strategies for preparing for international study. The program was implemented through socialization activities including presentations on overseas study experiences, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The activity was conducted at IAI Hasanuddin Pare, located near Kampung Inggris Pare, a well-known center for English language learning in Indonesia, with approximately 30 participants. The results indicate a significant increase in participants’ knowledge of scholarship opportunities, motivation to pursue overseas study, and awareness of the importance of early academic planning. This program is expected to serve as an initial step toward fostering a globally oriented academic culture and encouraging increased international student mobility.
