Abstract

Abstract: Low levels of knowledge and strong stigma surrounding long-acting contraceptive methods (LACMs) pose barriers to increasing the use of effective contraception among couples of reproductive age (CRAs). This community service project aims to improve CRAs’ knowledge and attitudes toward LACMs through structured interactive education. The study involved 36 participants using a one-group pre-test–post-test pre-experimental design. The intervention included participatory lectures, two-way discussions, myth clarification, and brief counseling. Evaluation utilized knowledge and attitude questionnaires, with descriptive analysis as well as Paired t-tests and effect size (Cohen’s d). Results showed a significant increase in knowledge scores from 61.8 ± 9.8 to 83.9 ± 8.1 (p < 0.05; d = 1.60) and in attitudes from 28.4 ± 4.0 to 35.1 ± 3.5 (p < 0.05; d = 1.55). The proportion of participants with “good” knowledge increased from 19.4% to 77.8%, and those with positive attitudes increased from 38.9% to 80.6%. These findings indicate that interactive health education effectively improves understanding and acceptance of MKJP and has the potential to support family planning programs at the community level.
