EDUKASI MINDFULNESS MINDSET BERBASIS NILAI SPIRITUAL ISLAM SEBAGAI UPAYA PROMOTIF KESEHATAN MENTAL MAHASISWA INTERNASIONAL DI THAILAND
Abstract
Abstract: International students are vulnerable to mental health problems due to academic pressure and the demands of cross-cultural adaptation. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to increase international students' understanding of the mindfulness mindset integrated with Islamic spiritual values as a strategy for maintaining mental health in a multicultural academic environment. This activity was carried out at the Faculty of Public Health, Thammasat University, involving nine students from several countries (Indonesia, Myanmar, Uganda). The method of this community service activity uses an educational approach and emotional therapy practices which are implemented with The implementation method is carried out through three stages, namely pre-activity (coordination with partners, preparation of educational media, and socialization), the stage of implementing education accompanied by simple emotional therapy, and the evaluation stage through participant reflection. Evaluation is measured through individual oral interviews and written reflections with success indicators in the form of the ability to demonstrate emotional coping skills. The results of the activity show that participants have a positive view of the concepts of mindfulness, self-awareness, and forgiveness as important skills in maintaining mental health, managing emotions, and improving the quality of social relationships. Participants also demonstrated awareness of the importance of consistent mindfulness practice despite facing distractions and academic pressure. Furthermore, the mindfulness approach based on Islamic spiritual values was well-received by participants from multicultural backgrounds, thus offering potential cross-cultural transferability within an international student environment. Specifically, 100% of participants were confirmed to have mastered mindfulness concepts and practiced emotional therapy, and 88.9% demonstrated increased self-awareness after the intervention. This activity provides a practical contribution to the development of a culturally sensitive and religiously responsive model for community-based academic mental health interventions.
