Abstract

Abstrak: Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan socio-entrepreneurship melalui praktik urban farming sebagai upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat perkotaan. Latar belakang kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya keterbatasan lahan, ketahanan pangan yang rendah, serta tingginya angka pengangguran di wilayah urban. Oleh karena itu, program ini mengintegrasikan konsep kewirausahaan sosial dengan praktik pertanian perkotaan untuk menciptakan peluang ekonomi sekaligus meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi pelatihan, pendampingan, serta praktik langsung urban farming menggunakan teknik hidroponik dan vertikultur. Peserta kegiatan berjumlah 40 orang yang berasal dari komunitas masyarakat perkotaan. Evaluasi dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta sebesar 78% terkait konsep socio-entrepreneurship dan praktik urban farming. Program ini memberikan dampak positif dalam meningkatkan kemandirian ekonomi serta kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat.

Abstract: This community service initiative aims to develop social entrepreneurship through urban farming as a means of empowering urban communities. The initiative was prompted by increasing land scarcity, low food security, and high unemployment rates in urban areas. Therefore, this program integrates the concept of social entrepreneurship with urban farming practices to create economic opportunities while raising environmental awareness. Implementation methods included training, mentoring, and hands-on urban farming using hydroponic and vertical farming techniques. There were 40 participants from urban communities. An evaluation was conducted through pre- and post-tests to measure improvements in participants’ understanding and skills. The results showed a 78% increase in participants’ understanding of the concepts of social entrepreneurship and urban farming practices. This program had a positive impact on enhancing the community’s economic self-reliance and environmental awareness.
