Abstract: One of the most prevalent problems found in English language learning across all levels of education, particularly from elementary school to senior high school, is the lack of dictionary literacy among students. Therefore, English dictionary literacy has been proposed as a solution to this issue, in this case, at the secondary school level. The method used was training which was conducted at a private secondary school in Malang, Indonesia with a total of 49 student participants. For data collection, questionnaires on dictionary literacy were distributed to the participants before and after the training. The data were then analyzed using a qualitative descriptive approach to provide a clear account of the findings. The results of the training, based on the qualitative descriptive data analysis, indicated that the students’ responses to the dictionary reading training were excellent, that is 88% of participants experienced dictionary reading, including pronunciation (76%) and looking up words in the dictionary (12%). From the results of the distributed questionnaires, it can be concluded that the training had improved students' English learning experiences. This is evidenced by the reduced difficulty participants experienced in pronunciation, spelling, motivation, and dictionary use. However, understanding word meanings still needs strengthening. Therefore, follow-up activities can be directed at practicing understanding vocabulary in sentence context, using words in simple conversations, and strategies for guessing word meanings based on context.
