EDUKASI MANAJEMEN FISIK DAN PSIKOLOGIS KEPADA CAREGIVER PASIEN ANAK DENGAN KANKER DI RUMAH SINGGAH JAKARTA
Abstract
Abstrak: Pengasuh keluarga atau familial caregiver berperan penting dalam perawatan pasien kanker anak sejak diagnosis awal, pengobatan, remisi, kekambuhan dan perawatan menjelang ajal. Pemberian perawatan (caregiving) berdampak pada berbagai aspek kehidupan caregiver. Pendekatan yang holistik dan pendampingan bagi caregiver berpengaruh signifikan bagi kesejahteraan caregiver dan pada pemulihan dan kualitas asuhan keperawatan yang diberikan kepada pasien. PkM ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan dan memberikan penguatan kepada sejumlah 28 orang familial caregiver dari anak penderita kanker melalui edukasi kesehatan terkait manajemen fisik dan psikologis dalam berperan sebagai caregiver. Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah, diskusi interaktif dan demonstrasi satu teknik menjaga kesehatan mental. Evaluasi efektivitas PkM dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test menggunakan instrumen berisi 10 pertanyaan yang mengevaluasi pengetahuan mengenai manajemen fisik dan psikologis sebagai caregiver. Pelaksanaan PkM kepada caregiver di dua rumah singgah menunjukkan respon yang sangat positif dibuktikan dengan peningkatan pengetahuan dengan hasil pengukuran menunjukkan peningkatanskor rata-rata sebesar 30 poin, dari 45 pada pre-test menjadi 75 pada post-test. Peningkatan ini mengindikasikan penyuluhan kesehatan yang diberikan kepada caregiver meningkatkan pengetahuan caregiver. Diharapkan, kegiatan PkM ini dapat meningkatkan kesiapan caregiver dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan khususnya fisik dan psikologis.
Abstract: Familial caregivers play a crucial role in the care of children with cancer, from initial diagnosis through treatment, remission, recurrence, and end-of-life care. Caregiving impacts various aspects of a caregiver’s life. A holistic approach and support for caregivers significantly influence their well-being, as well as the recovery and quality of care provided to patients. This Community Service (PkM) program aims to enhance the knowledge and empower 28 familial caregivers of children with cancer through health education on physical and psychological management in their role as caregivers. The methods used included presentations, interactive discussions, and a demonstration of a technique for maintaining mental health. The effectiveness of the Community Service Program was evaluated through pre-tests and post-tests using a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions regarding knowledge about the physical and psychological management as caregivers.The implementation of this PkM program for caregivers at two patient shelters yielded a very positive response evidenced by increased knowledgewith measurement results showing an average score increase of 30 points—from 45 on the pre-test to 75 on the post-test. This improvement indicates that the health education provided to caregivers enhanced their knowledge. It is hoped that this PkM activity can improve caregivers’ readiness to face various challenges, particularly physical and psychological ones.
