Abstract: This community service activity was motivated by the complexity of students’ mental health problems and the limited understanding among Guidance and Counseling (GC) teachers regarding the early detection of suicidal symptoms among students. The training aimed to improve GC teachers’ understanding and capacity to conduct early detection of suicidal symptoms, including understanding the concept of suicidal behavior, risk factors, early warning signs, initial assessment, empathetic communication, as well as appropriate intervention and referral procedures. The participants were 32 GC teachers from senior high schools in Gunungkidul who were members of the Musyawarah Guru Bimbingan dan Konseling (MGBK) of Gunungkidul Senior High Schools. The training methods included material presentation, interactive discussions, and case studies. Evaluation was conducted using a questionnaire-based pre-test and post-test, which showed an increase in the mean score from 6.47 in the pre-test to 7.78 in the post-test. The Wilcoxon test results indicated a significant difference between the scores before and after the training (Z = -3.787; p < 0.001).
