PENGUATAN KAPASITAS KOMUNIKASI KEBERLANJUTAN MELALUI PELATIHAN CULTURAL STORYTELLING BAGI KOMUNITAS DAYAK IBAN DI SARAWAK, MALAYSIA
Abstract
Abstrak: Komunitas Dayak Iban di Rumah Panjang Enkerinzy di Sarawak, Malaysia, memiliki kekayaan budaya dan pengetahuan lokal yang luar biasa. Namun, mereka masih kesulitan untuk secara sistematis menyebarkan nilai budaya dan pesan konservasi kepada masyarakat luas. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi yang berkelanjutan melalui pelatihan cerita budaya. Selama dua hari, 15 peserta, terdiri dari tokoh adat dan anggota komunitas Dayak Iban, mengikuti pelatihan partisipatif-dialogis berbasis komunikasi untuk pertumbuhan. Identifikasi kebutuhan, pelatihan komunikasi keberlanjutan, pembuatan narasi budaya, simulasi komunikasi publik, dan evaluasi menggunakan pre-test, post-test, observasi, dan rubrik penilaian praktik adalah semua bagian dari kegiatan. Pelatihan meningkatkan semua skor indikator. Hasil post-test menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman komunikasi keberlanjutan meningkat dari skor 61 menjadi 88, atau sebesar 27 poin. Kemampuan cerita budaya meningkat dari 55 menjadi 86, atau 31 poin. Kepercayaan diri dalam pidato publik meningkat dari 58 menjadi 84, atau 26 poin, dan kemampuan penyampaian pesan budaya meningkat dari 60 menjadi 87, atau 27 poin. Secara keseluruhan, skor rata-rata meningkat dari 58,50 menjadi 86,25, atau sebesar 27,75 poin.
Abstract: The Dayak Iban community at the Enkerinzy Longhouse in Sarawak, Malaysia, possesses an extraordinary wealth of culture and local knowledge. However, they still face challenges in systematically disseminating their cultural values and conservation messages to the broader public. The objective of this community service initiative is to enhance sustainable communication skills through cultural storytelling training. Over two days, 15 participants comprising traditional leaders and members of the Dayak Iban community took part in a participatory, dialog training program focused on communication for growth. The program included needs assessment, training in sustainable communication, cultural narrative development, public communication simulations, and evaluation using pre-test, post-tests, observations, and practical assessment rubrics. The training improved scores on all indicators. Post-test results showed that understanding of sustainable communication increased from a score of 61 to 88, or by 27 points. Cultural storytelling skills increased from 55 to 86, or by 31 points. Confidence in public speaking increased from 58 to 84, or by 26 points, and the ability to convey cultural messages increased from 60 to 87, or by 27 points. Overall, the average score increased from 58.50 to 86.25, or by 27.75 points.
