PELATIHAN DAN BIMBINGAN TEKNIS PENGENDALIAN HAMA TIKUS DENGAN PEMASANGAN RUMAH BURUNG HANTU SEBAGAI STRATEGI RAMAH LINGKUNGAN
Abstract
Abstrak: Tikus merupakan ancaman utama pada budidaya padi yang menyebabkan kerugian hasil panen. Sebagian petani mengandalkan pengendalian secara kimiawi namun tidak memberikan hasil dan berdampak buruk pada lingkungan dan kesehatan. Kegiatan pengabdian bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pengendalian yang lebih ramah lingkungan dengan memanfaatkan predator alaminya yaitu burung hantu (Tyto alba). Keberadaan burung hantu semakin menurun akibat berkurangnya habitat mereka. Solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan dengan menyediakan habitat berupa rumah burung hantu (rubuha). Metode yang digunakan yaitu observasi dan wawancara dengan melibatkan peran serta kelompok tani setempat, tahapan kegiatan dilakukan dengan pemetaan permasalahan, pelatihan dan bimbingan teknis, pemasangan rubuha, monitoring, dan evaluasi program. Pelatihan diikuti oleh 20 orang yang tergabung dalam kelompok tani setempat. Hasil evaluasi dan monitoring yaitu pengetahuan petani tentang pengendalian hama tikus secara terpadu meningkat hingga 80%, dibuktikan dengan partisipasi aktif dan 50% petani mulai memasang rubuha di lahannya. Dari 10 unit rubuha yang terpasang, 5 unit sudah dihuni burung hantu sehingga serangan tikus menurun 10–15%.
Abstract: Rats are a major threat to rice cultivation, causing crop losses. Some farmers rely on chemical control, but this is ineffective and has a negative impact on the environment and health. The community service activity aims to raise public awareness of more environmentally friendly control methods by utilizing natural predators, namely owls (Tyto alba). The owl population is declining due to the loss of their habitat. The solution to this problem is to provide habitat in the form of owl houses (rubuha). The methods used were observation and interviews with the participation of local farmer groups. The stages of the activity were problem mapping, training and technical guidance, installation of rubuha, and program monitoring and evaluation. The training was attended by 20 people who are members of local farmer groups. The results of the evaluation and monitoring showed that farmers' knowledge of integrated rat pest control increased by 80%, as evidenced by their active participation, and 50% of farmers began installing owl houses on their land. Of the 10 owl houses installed, 5 were inhabited by owls, resulting in a 10-15% decrease in rat attacks.
